The winner of the UK final will receive a £5,000 prize and be flown to Tokyo, all expenses paid, for the World Monopoly Championship in October.

The championships take place every four years, and are hosted in Monopoly-related locations.

This year's competition is on HMS Belfast – representing The Ship playing piece. Previous championships have taken place in a branch of the Yorkshire Bank and a railway station.

64 players from across the country will battle for the top title. Four players take part in each game, which lasts for just 90 minutes, with the richest person at the end of the allotted time winning.

We even had a local competitor – 28-year-old Kamman Janpiam from Kennington Road, who practises at the Thai Pavilion restaurant close to the Imperial War Museum.
