Pool of London business consultation launched

London SE1 website team

The new consultation website is a forum for local business owners and employees in the Pool of London area to share with others how they see their local area developing and what their needs are in the area.

PLP BID
Proposed BID area is highlighted

Employees and business owners can fill out a quick survey or post messages on the bulletin board. Comments will be fed into a management plan that will identify how these projects can be funded and delivered once the Pool of London Partnership's work comes to an end in 2007.

The website also offers more information about the Business Improvement District (BID) idea. Business Improvement Districts are a way for businesses to have more influence over how their district develops and projects to invest in that will enhance the competitiveness of their area – projects that cannot be otherwise funded by the local authority or other bodies.

The PLP is currently undertaking consultation in this area to see if businesses would like to introduce a BID, which would lead to a compulsory levy on business rates in the area.

There are also plans for a BID in Bankside; a referendum of local businesses is to be held early in the new year.
