Queen to make Jubilee visits to SE1

The Queen is to make at least two official visits to SE1 as part of her Golden Jubilee tour of Britain.

Just two days after the Golden Jubilee Weekend the Queen will join the Archbishop of Canterbury for a garden party at Lambeth Palace.

A month later, on Tuesday 23 July, The Queen will return to open the GLA's riverside City Hall near Tower Bridge.

It is also likely that the Queen and Prince Philip will visit, or at least pass through SE1, during the main South London tour on 4 July.

Two years ago the Queen began Millennium Night with a visit to Southwark Cathedral before sailing downstream for the opening of the Dome.

Southwark's own Jubilee Weekend Celebrations take place in Borough Market on Sunday 2 June.
