Tropicana at the Shunt Vaults

Tropicana, showing at the Shunt Vaults below London Bridge station, stuns with an all-sensory experience that is not just another night out at the theatre.

The play, if it can even be called that, employs the venue in the vaults to its full potential. One minute, the room is pitch black and the only sound is the closing of a door, and the next moment, there is a brilliant light and a peacock-like woman swinging from the ceiling.

Though far from being a conventional production, Tropicana deals with the common theme of death in a witty and sarcastic way that, while being at times a bit appalling, is cleverly mocking. The play truly is an experience that transports the audience into a different, much darker and fantastical world.
