Brisk trade at bike shops as stranded commuters take to the road
Bicycle shops in central London reported a boom in trade on Thursday as commuters stranded by the Tube shutdown sought alternative means of transport.
"We're all out," a member of staff at Tooley Street's On Your Bike told a news agency reporter.
"We've actually built extra bikes to cater for the demand but they're all gone too."
• On Thursday Marks & Spencer's Simply Food store at Waterloo station provided food and drink to people involved in the response operation.
