Security alert at the Elephant
The Elephant and Castle junction was sealed off on Friday afternoon whilst a suspect package in Newington Causeway was examined by the emergency services.
An eyewitness reports hearing a small bang – possibly from the detonation of a suspect package.
Residents of Metro Central Heights were told to stand away from their windows.
Update at 3.25pm: the roads have now re-opened.
