Bankside businesses get behind The Canterbury Tales

London SE1 website team

Members of Bankside's business community enjoyed a gala performance of Southwark Playhouse's The Canterbury Tales on Wednesday as guests of Better Bankside, the business improvement district.

Representatives of local businesses and community organisations gathered at Glaziers Hall in Montague Close to examine the recently refurbished events facilities. Canapes were supplied by Red Eventful Cuisine

The gathering was addressed by representatives of Glaziers Hall and Southwark Playhouse. Kelvin McDonald of Bankside Restaurants – one of the theatre's partners for its ambitious Canterbury Tales production – also spoke about his commitment to the local community.

The assembled crowd then moved to the George Inn in Borough High Street for the start of the performance.

The Canterbury Tales has been supported by Better Bankside, Workspace Group and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
