Design Mart at the Design Museum

Kelly Leavitt

Overlooking the Thames at the top of the Design Museum, the Design Mart - part of the London Design Festival - offers an innovative look at domesticity.

Immeadiately walking into the exhibit, the bright blue room adds to the modern pieces of work. From kebab lamps to digital wallpaper, this small exhibition showcases work of young furniture designers who have recently finished their art education.

The group of talented, fledging artists includes Lea Doherty, Ulrika Jarl and Christopher Pearson.

To provide more knowledge and understanding of each design, a description/explanation of the piece of work along with a short biography of the artist accompanies each display.

This exhibition is an interesting look at upcoming, popular furniture design and will appeal to anyone looking for a fresh perspective on art.

• Design Mart is located up the stairs behind the Design Museum and continues 10am-5.45pm (Fri -9pm) until Sunday 25 September; admission free.
