11-year-old Joseph Dudley from the City of London Academy led a clean sweep by Southwark last week in a public speaking competition.

Joseph was the youngest of the 23 finalists from schools in Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Lewisham. The final was held at Citigroup's HQ in Canary Wharf last week.

Pupils from Southwark schools filled the first five places in the competition. Sam Bradley, also from City of London Academy took third place. Joseph wins £200 and Sam receives £50.

The annual competition is titled Financially Speaking. It's based on SpeakersBank's public speaking training, which has reached over 10,000 schoolchildren and young people, mostly in London. Citigroup volunteers have joined SpeakersBank's trainers in the classrooms to introduce personal finance topics such as, 'the cost of cool', credit vs debit cards, mortgages, bank accounts and interest rates
