£1m for free events

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation is making an award of more than £1.3 million to the Royal Festival Hall for a new five-year programme of free public education projects.

The programme will begin next year offering a lively range of activities and events in an informal setting.

South Bank Centre chairman Lord Hollick says: "We are delighted that this generous and imaginative support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation will enable the Royal Festival Hall to expand its dynamic education programme utilising the wonderful Ballroom space. The three million people who visit the Royal Festival Hall each year will be able to participate and share in a variety of stimulating free activities throughout the year."
