Borough Market was crowded for a celebration of seasonal autumn produce on Thursday.

A new Borough Market jute bag was on sale at the autumn produce event. It is priced at £3.

The special day followed this week's private view of autumn produce for restaurant, hotel and catering buyers when guests included visitors from outside the capital who had been at Earl's Cout for the Restaurant Show.

Meanwhile a Harvest Festival family event was held on Waterloo Millennium Green. Activities included bread making, weaving and working with reeds. Children from nearby Johanna Primary School looked ahead to the new growing season by making scarecrows.

• Calling all carol singers, musicians, community groups and performers: you are invited to perform round the Christmas tree at Borough Market, collecting for your favourite charity. Please contact [email protected] for details of the performance schedule.
