London SE1 website team

Police officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Old Kent Road on Monday 8 September.

Officers say that at approximately 5.30pm on Monday 8 September a red Aprilia motorcycle travelling south on the Old Kent Road collided with a concrete bollard opposite the B&Q store.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 43-year-old man who has not yet been named, was taken by ambulance to King's College Hospital. He was later transferred to St Thomas' Hospital where he died on Monday 15 September.

"At that time of day the Old Kent Road would have been very busy," says Sgt Simon Seeley who is leading the investigation.

"A number of witnesses made themselves known at the time but I believe there are more people out there who saw what happened.

"If you have any information please get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the collision investigation unit at Catford on 020 8285 1574; if you wish to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
