Filming for the movie took place in London in December 2007 – just a month before the death of the movie's star Heath Ledger.

The film tells the story of Dr Parnassus and his extraordinary 'Imaginarium', a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom.

Local filming locations include Borough Market's Green Market by Southwark Cathedral as well as Blackfriars Bridge and Bankside.

Production of the film continued despite that setback and the finished product goes on general release next week.
