The Children's Hour at the Union Theatre

Brittany Luck

Union Theatre’s production of Lillian Hellman’s The Children’s Hour is anything but childish.

The play depicts adult themes in a thought provoking and sensitive manner, and the intimate setting of the theatre increases the drama even further as the audience becomes drawn in to the action.

Although the play is filled with child actors, each character was handled with amazing intensity. Children's Hour's two leading ladies, Anna Brecon and Tracy Wiles, were especially stunning with their command of both sarcastic wit and New England accents.

Poignant and funny, Children's Hour reveals the heart of American puritanism in the 1930's , examines the intricacies of human relationships and implies important questions for a modern audience. I highly recommend that you attend this play, along with your favourite box of tissues.

• Children's Hour continues until Saturday 22 March.

• Box office 020 7261 9876.
