Vicky Lawrence leaves a greening Bankside

Vicky Lawrence who led the re-greening of Bankside has said farewell to SE1 at a party in Belushi’s.

After five years as Director of Bankside Open Spaces Trust, and huge achievements, Vicky has decided that it is time to move on. Christ Church Garden, Red Cross Gardens, Mint Street Park and many other parts of Bankside have all benefitted from her leadership.

BOST is now recognised as an example of best way to achieve results and the BOST book, In My Backyard: Growing a Sense of Space in Bankside, a handbook for other urban communities.

Vicky's immediate plans are to take up her Churchill Fellowship in America to study community land management.

At the party, which included guests who were long standing residents as well as new, she cut a cake in the form of a basket of flowers.
