Lottery funding for young to meet WW2 veterans

London SE1 website team

A scheme giving young people the opportunity to learn first-hand from veterans about their Second World War experience has been launched at the Imperial War Museum.

National Lottery funding from the New Opportunities Fund will enable the UK-wide schools and education project scheme Their Past – Your Future to be developed by the Museum.

New Opportunities Fund Chair Baroness Pitkeathley announced the scheme: “This is the first part of our Veterans Reunited programme to commemorate the momentous events 60 years ago which led to victory in the Second World War.

“The IWM is well placed to lead this scheme and enhance the knowledge and understanding across generations of our shared history and the part played by our veterans.”

The scheme also includes the development of a website D-Day and Beyond.
