Firefighters tackle Queen Elizabeth Street fire

The brigade was called to a fourth-floor flat at The Circle soon after 3.30pm and the fire was under control half an hour later.

Crews from Dockhead, Poplar, Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, New Cross and Old Kent Road fire stations attended the incident.

Dockhead fire station would normally be the nearest fire station to the Shad Thames area but its appliance and crews are currently based at New Cross whilst the Wolseley Street station is rebuilt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
