Food good but delivery very slow
We waited almost two hours for delivery, though the food wasn't too cold as it had obviously just hadn't been cooked until about 90 minutes after our order. To his credit, the manager (who also happened to be our delivery driver) accepted just £10 instead of £25 and was very apologetic. In fairness, the food was very good and so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, especially as it only cost a tenner. He said this was because they have only a small kitchen. Next time though, I think we'll eat in.
Very Good Proper Chinese
Been to their restaurant few times before since they opened. Seems like they are doing better and better. We had a family birthday party last night and we very enjoyed it. A fantastic night out.
Their food is superb and those sichuan dishes they do are so amazing. Like the fried green beans with minced pork and fried potato Aubergine green peppers. So nice!
The only concern is the waiting time as they seems very busy every weekends. We waited around 15 mins for table and got our first dish 10 mins after we ordered. But their service is still good.
Overall I would highly recommend Crystal China for SE1er to go and try. Nice place to go...
will never order from there again
waited 1 hr 30mins for food, had to call them to ask where it was. when we received it, it was very cold. found chicken in the egg fried rice which made me very angry because i dont eat meat. The noodles came with beansprout which i made a big deal on none to b added when ordered because cant eat them. waited another 30 mins to received another 1. food was not nice and very greasy. will not be ordering from here again
Quite a find
I've been here only once but had such a lovely meal I intend to become a regular! As I only live around the corner I don't know what took me so long to try it.

We arrived at about 10pm on Saturday and straight away the delicious smells were an encouraging sign.

A large plate of complimentary prawn crackers landed on our table quite quickly. For our mains, we stuck to the black bean dishes (duck and beef) and these were delicious. We shared a king prawn rice, which was plenty for the two of us.

All the portions were generous, including the spring roll starters, and there were eight large prawns in the rice.

We would have tried dessert but we just couldn't fit it in. But they brought us a complimentary dish of chilled orange and lychees which was perfect.

Service was friendly and down to earth and even the bathroom was very clean!

In short, it's great food, generous portions and friendly service.

The area needs places like this so please at least give it a try.

Excellent authentic cuisne
The restaurant interior is of a high end standard, stylish, clean and welcoming. Staff were also very welcoming and well informed on menu and are happy to recommend if your in doubt.

The food is fantastic, authentic chinese cuisine. The best chinese restaurant in the area and perhaps in London (I have eaten at a few).

Takeaway is also very impressive.

Highly recommended

Very much improved
I do think Crystal China is a welcome addition to the area. SE1 has not really had a decent Chinese eaterie for years.

Went there for dinner on Wednesday evening and the food was very good - freshly cooked, tasty & well presented. The seafood dishes were all half-price so I took the plunge & ordered the mussels in black bean sauce, which was very good. I also ordered off menu and had a dish of perfectly cooked choi sum (greens).

Extensive menu with lots of unusual dishes (tripe etc) as well as the usual English favorites (sweet & sour pork etc). Service was very polite. I would happily dine there again or try their takeout service, and recommend other SE1'ers to give it a try.
