The graduates of the BA (Hons) Photography at Blackpool and The Fylde College present a spectacular group photography show.
RE: is a display of their collective difference, a group exhibit exploring themes/words that incorporate the letters 're'.
Using different approaches to contemporary photography, the students explore issues such as identity formations, feminism, sexual politics, ethnicity and human interaction with the urban environment. The background of the course is a commercial one, underpinned by experimentation and a well-practiced conceptual understanding of visual culture and theory.
The show starts with a group presentation to introduce the audience to all 35 exhibitors at once. As you move through the exhibition you will meet all kinds of more experimental manners of presentation. Some draw upon the unique style of the building to complement their work, others incorporate installation with photography in an attempt to fully exploit and explore the medium.
During the exhibition will be a programme of talks on Saturday 1 July, showcasing a fine selection of previous Blackpool graduates who have made it into the industry. Pedro Alvarez, Paul Plews, Simon Barber and Rik Pincombe will discuss the work they have been doing and provide their perspectives on the industry at present. The sessions are free but booking is essential, email [email protected]
