The 4WALL Bermondsey Wall at Bermondsey Square

A 200-metre interactive outdoor mural around the Bermondsey Square construction site will be unveiled this week.

With the help of developers Igloo Regeneration Partnership, urban design collective 4WALL and a team of local artists have been spray painting, drawing, stencilling, brushing and cutting a series of two metre high boards for the past 2 months in preparation for the grand unveiling.

This day also marks the start of an open invitation for local people to join in and make their mark on the hoardings.

Parts of the installation have been left deliberately blank to encourage members of the public to join in and add to this piece of living urban art.

As part of the opening event on 11 November, locals, visitors, schoolchildren and artists will be encouraged to add their own thoughts and images of Bermondsey to the space, with professional artists on hand to offer advice.

Some of the UK’s foremost live painters and graffiti artists will be at the launch including Austin, Adam Neate, Adrianjohnson, JAKe, Pinky and Kid Acne.

The installation will surround the site for the next 12 months whilst developers Igloo transform the derelict site.
