To lift or not to lift?

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

In 1958 the remains of a Roman boat were discovered underneath Guy's Hospital.

The boat, which remains in situ, is now a scheduled ancient monument.

Plans for a new cancer treatment centre to be build close to the boat have prompted a reappraisal of the wreck's future.

Lecture by Jane Sidell, the English Heritage inspector responsible for monitoring the site.
