Voicelab: Open Voice

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Under the direction of Mary King, internationally acclaimed vocal artist and star of Channel Musicality and Operatunity, Southbank Centre is launching Voicelab to coincide with the reopening of Royal Festival Hall. Voicelab will provide many training and performance opportunities throughout the year for all kinds of people, from enthusiastic amateur to aspiring professional. You will learn how to sing better and work across the widest range of vocal styles from classical music to beatboxing, from musical theatre to world music.

Do you have:
Passion for singing different kinds of music with loads of other people?
Time to come to regular rehearsals when projects come up?
A good musical ear, whether you can read music or not?
You could be:
Learning how to beatbox
Recording a newly composed War Oratorio for a major new 4 film
Singing Beethoven's Symphony No.9 in the opening concert at Royal Festival Hall
Sailing up the Thames singing folk music from across the world
Singing in Paco Peña's Requiem for the Earth

Come along and take part in a mass sing and hear more about being part of Voicelab.

You can then sign up to receive information about getting involved in forthcoming projects, including Southbank Centre's reopening of Royal Festival Hall in June. During these sessions, you can also book an audition for our War Oratorio project in March (more details below).

It is strongly recommended that you book your place on one of the four Open Voice sessions, as numbers are limited.
