Remixed and Rescored

Digitonal and The Media Lounge perform their acclaimed remix and rescore of The Shining at Roxy as part of their weekly Audiovisual Nights.

Following in the footsteps of the likes of DJ Food and D-Fuse's work on re-imagining cinematic classics, Sheffield based media reclaimers The Media Lounge approached Andy Dobson from electronica act Digitonal to produce a rescoring project for their 4th season. The idea was to produce a new version of Kubrick's classic tale of snowbound terror, with plot and dialogue intact, recutting the film into 6, 10-minute sequences which Dobson would rescore. The resulting score is a mixture of the Hermannesque strings, abstract beats and bags of atmosphere which Digitonal's studio and live work have been associated with.

The Shining: Remixed and rescored was first performed at one of Medlo's legendary AV nights at The Lescar pub. Subsequently, the project went out on the road, scoring critical acclaim at Sheffield's fourplay festival, Look and listen in Leeds and two London performances in Brixton and Brick Lane. Further performances beckoned as part of the Sheffield Lovebytes festival, Oxford's Creepshow halloween special and at the legendary Soviet I night at London's Coronet.

They return to London to perform a further enhanced version of the project at the Roxy Bar and Screen, together with an exclusive AV set from Media Lounge and DJ support from longtime collaborator, Feedle.

Roxy's Audiovisual Nights are showcasing the best new AV talent from around the world with VJing, live AV sets, film remixes and rescores. With its state-of-the-art AV setup and stylish yet unpretentious atmosphere, the bar in Borough High Street is fast becoming one of the leading places in the country to catch the best and latest cutting-edge audiovisual work.
