Sicily 2006, the race for political power begins. Pitching a 'mafia suspect' against an 'anti-mafia activist', the 2006 election for a governor in Sicily promises to be like no other. Rita Borsellino, is a popular anti-mafia activist, an uncorrupted name and new to the political scene. Since the murder of her brother, a judge killed by the mafia, she has toured the length of Italy promoting initiatives against the mafia. Salvatore 'Toto' Cuffaro is the incumbent governor; and he is also on trial for adding and abetting the mafia. This film pursues the campaigns of two controversial candidates as they prepare to do battle, portraying a human conflict: a clash between two candidates, opposing views on power, legality and, more significantly, the condition of modern day Sicily itself.
