This is the Festival's Gypsy grooves stage. There will be a weekend of 21st century Gypsy sound clash selected by festival maestros Continental Drifts.
Here is a taster of what to expect -
Orkestra del Sol
Brass troubadours with an unruly charm. They combine Balkan tunes, carnival classics, Gypsy polkas, calypsos and waltzes from the Baltic wastes of Edinburgh, a high energy carnival array of sounds from around the world.
Jinta-La-Mvta
Music influenced by the street music and avant garde jazz scenes in Japan. This brass/woodwind-based music merges jazz, klezmer, brass band, Japanese folk (and anything else it can get its hands on), into wonderfully twisted and always surprising hybrid sounds.
Mukka
The ultimate live band. They whisk their audience on a whirlwind journey through deepest Transylvania with frenetic Balkan instrumentals.
Forty Thieves Orchestra
A dastardly infusion of eastern melodies and sultry London beats. With influences ranging from the belly dancing music of the near east, and Gypsy music from Turkey and Eastern Europe, this exciting new project combines these evocative sounds with a selection of contemporary beats, rhythms and sonics.
