With its physical gags, linguistic jokes and vivid characters, The Merry Wives of Windsor is a brilliantly constructed farce and the only comedy Shakespeare set in his native land.

Creative team Christopher Luscombe and Janet Bird reunite following their successful collaboration in 2006 on The Comedy of Errors at the Globe. Their strong director-designer partnership includes A Midsummer Night's Dream (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre), The Rocky Horror Show (national tour), Enjoy (Watford Palace Theatre) and Arms and the Man (Salisbury Playhouse).

Nigel Hess has won numerous awards, including the New York Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music in a Play for Much Ado About Nothing and Cyrano de Bergerac on Broadway. Commissions for 2007 included a new ballet based on The Old Man of Lochnagar, a children's story written by the HRH Prince of Wales in 1980, which was premiered at Sadler's Wells, and Nigel's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, commissioned by The Prince of Wales in memory of his grandmother.
