A Harlot's Progress at Cathedral Square

Inspired by a series of 6 plates by Hogarth called 'A Harlot's Progress,' first published 275 years ago, TightRope is restoring Bankside to its original bawdiness. The fiery underbelly of a greedy capital digests another young life in pursuit of power. If syphilis doesn't get her the hangman will. Dishonesty, debauchery and dysentery are the order of the day in this raucous romp through the life of young Moll, the tastiest morsel of them all.

TightRope is a new company focusing on the role of the outsider in society. They have just completed a Young Vic scheme for up and coming theatre companies. In conjunction with Streetwise Live and Crescent Theatre Workshop, this first major promenade play will take place at locations between Shakespeare's Globe and Borough Market. Expect musicians, bawds, highway men, gimps and whores.

Daniel Whelan's previous work as a writer includes an adaptation of Watership Down for The Riverside Studios as well as Den of Thieves at The Cochrane Theatre. This is Director Gemma Johnson's directorial debut.
