Waterloo-based housing charity Central & Cecil is inviting local people to participate in a sponsored walk event to raise money for young homeless women. The ninth annual Riverwalk will begin at Tower Bridge and will navigate London's key bridges and landmarks, before finishing at Gabriel's Wharf near Oxo Tower Wharf.
Central & Cecil have provided support for London's homeless women for 83 years, and the organisation has had a hostel in Waterloo since the 1930s. The charity's Northcott House Hostel was opened on Waterloo Road in 2001 and provides 46 single en-suite rooms for homeless women between the ages of 16 and 21.
Central & Cecil relies on charitable funding to provide a dedicated programme of support, over and above its core housing service. This includes careers and education advice, access to an independent counsellor, in-house IT classes, and training in life skills such as money management, cookery and DIY.
The Riverwalk will take place this year in conjunction with the Waterloo Quarter BID who have named Central & Cecil their charity of the year.
Individuals and teams interested in participating in the event can email [email protected] or register through the organisation's dedicated Riverwalk line on 020 7922 5317.
Prizes, including a free wine tasting tour of Vinopolis, will be awarded to participants raising the most money.
