The Eureka project promotes excellence in the commercial product design process. The wide range of products in Eureka 2006 are all being created by Design-Nation members, based on briefs from invited UK retailers. Bridging the gap between designer, manufacturer and retailer, the project aims to create a platform for innovative and commercially viable consumer products.

This year's Eureka retailers include three past contributors: John Lewis, Watts Contemporaries and Heal's, as well as two new retailers, Brintons and Christopher Wray. Each company is working alongside designers from Design- Nation's membership to fulfil briefs for a range of products which include furniture, bone china vessels, printed stationery and gift wrapping, a range of shower curtains, carpeting and lighting.

Designers involved in the Eureka 2006 include Timorous Beasties, who are working on a carpet brief from Brintons, Andrew Tanner, who has created a range of bone china vessels for Watts Contemporaries, Ella Doran, who has created a range of printed accessories for John Lewis including shower curtains, gift boxes, cards and wrapping paper, and Kay + Stemmer, who have worked to a furniture brief set by Heal's as part of Heal's Discovers 3. A new lighting product brief has been set by Christopher Wray. Highlighting the international reputation of British contemporary design, this prestigious list includes some of the most exciting and innovative product designers currently working in the UK.

The Eureka exhibition is part of the London Design Festival and 100% Guaranteed. Eureka 2006 will play host to the Laurent- Perrier Design Award for the third consecutive year. This prestigious annual award will be made to one of the Eureka designers chosen by a panel of judges. The other six participating designers will each receive a bottle of Laurent- Perrier champagne.
