Long-standing Borough Market traders Utobeer opened The Rake in a former pub in Winchester Walk in summer 2006. The 13ft x7 ft bar is the smallest in London.

The Rake beat Artesian, Big Chill House and Montgomery Place to win the bar category.

The best design award went to Skylon – the Terence Conran-designed restaurant which opened this year at the Royal Festival Hall.

Tate Modern's cafe on level 2 won the best family restaurant category.

"It has always been our ambition for Café 2 to be a welcoming and enjoyable environment for families that offers a great selection of wholesome food and drink for all ages," says Tate Catering CEO Robin Bidgood. "To have our ambition realised and recognised by the public is fantastic."
