A community kickabout was held on the Swan Mead Estate last week to mark the completion of improvements to the estate's sports pitch.

Work was completed last year on the £56,000 upgrade of the pitch which was funded by Bermondsey Community Council's Cleaner Greener Safer scheme.

It is hoped that the newly improved pitch will now become a regular Southwark Community Games venue.

A bouncy castle and other entertainment was provided at the celebratory event on Saturday 9 May.

11-year-old Amy Gorman won the 'best player award' of a signed Millwall FC football.
