Director

United Saint Saviour's Charity

Competitive salary

Full-time, permanent position

About this role

Established in 1541, United St Saviour’s Charity has supported people in need within the Borough of Southwark for 450 years. We provide sheltered retirement accommodation as well as helping young people through a grant programme involving a wide range of local organisations.

Following the opening of our brand-new purpose built block of 54 sheltered retirement homes in Purley in 2006, we have launched pioneering small and large grant programmes to focus on work with young people. Under this scheme we continue to help the vulnerable and disadvantaged through offering help to organisations active in this field.

We are now looking for a new Director to further our achievements. Working with a small dedicated team and Board of Trustees, you will lead the organisation in continuing to provide quality care to residents as well as developing the grant programmes, which have significantly increased in size, to ensure maximum community benefit.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with a proven track record in partnership building and an innovative self starter with the financial acumen to administer a grants programme and a large asset portfolio. Passionate about making a difference to the community, you will bring superb strategic leadership and stakeholder management skills, and will be a strong negotiator, confident at operating in senior corporate and public sector circles.

Acting as the external face of the charity, whilst leading our internal operations, you will need to build on our successes, drive new opportunities, enhance the organisation’s public image and positive contribution, and ensure that our flagship major grants scheme attracts the charities that can provide the highest social returns for Southwark.

This is an exceptional opportunity to take on a fascinating and challenging role for a charity with a strong and vibrant history and commitment to the local community.
