Upholstery tutor

The Goodlife Centre

to be decided

Part time/freelance

About this role

The Goodlife Centre is an independent learning space in Waterloo, London, offering introductory classes in DIY and traditional skills. Our students are professional, successful people who are interested in learning something practical after a dull day at a desk.
We are looking for an experienced upholsterer who can share their enthusiasm and love of their craft and can be available for one evening during the week from 6.30pm to 9pm.
Our students who have completed our beginner workshops have asked for more hands on experience and so we are opening ’upholstery clinic’ where sofas and chairs can be unpicked and recovered under the guidance of someone who can demonstrate methods and offer advice in our friendly environment. Students (maximum 8 per evening ) will be given the opportunity to work on whatever stage the various pieces of furniture require. There will be an assistant at each class and the furniture we use will be from donations of traditional and modern styles.
No teaching experience is required. There is no class paperwork or form filling. Our workshops are non accredited, but sometimes attended by students who are considering changing careers.
