£10.55 per hour + pension, 28 days holiday (pro rata + bank holidays) and other benefits

Part-time (20 hours a week), permanant

About this role

Main Duties:

To be responsible for opening and closing the church and crypt before and after use for congregation, service users, visitors, volunteers and hirers.

To ensure that all the facilities (e.g. chairs, tables, projector, refreshments) required for use are set-up and in good working order and are cleared away after use.

To offer a warm welcome to visitors and users and provide health and safety briefings and the information they need.

To take overall responsibility for security, fire, and health & safety and act as health and safety officer when on duty.

The buildings are cleaned internally by a contractor, the caretaker keeps external areas tidy, safe and accessible (e.g. during snow and ice) as well as dealing with any internal cleaning issues that require immediate attention e.g. spillages.

To keep all parts of the building under regular review and to liaise with the operations manager when maintenance and repair is required and to supervise contractors on site.
Responsible for the management and security of all keys.

Person description

We are looking for someone with experience in facilities management able to work flexibly and as part of a team.

Ability to use IT for email, calendars and rotas is essential.

We need someone who is able to welcome people and deal with issues in a friendly (and where necessary firm) way and someone confident in dealing with all kinds of individuals.

We need someone who is practical, capable of taking the initiative and working with minimal supervision.

The work involves climbing stairs, manual handling and medium exertion.


Advantageous if the individual was a Christian and sometimes worships with us.
