About this role

The Borough & Bankside Community Engagement Worker will have specific responsibility for working with individuals and organisations within the area developing their capacity to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the regeneration of the area.
The post will contribute towards the achievement of local area plans and community strategies. In particular: tackling poverty by helping individuals in deprived circumstances to help themselves, developing organisations to do this and getting local people involved in democratic structures. Post currently only funded up to end March 2009.

Person description

Two years experience of community development in an inner city setting, including work with BME and other marginalised groups.
Relevant professional qualification.
Ability to relate to, and communicate with, a wide variety of people.
Ability to write reports and be administratively self-servicing using Microsoft office.
Ability to work outside normal hours.
Experience of working to an agreed workplan with specific targets and outcomes
Knowledge of area preferred.
