Over 100 local community and voluntary organisations last month attended a preview of Into - a new state-of-the art media and learning centre - which recently opened on Trinity Street as part of the Elephant and Castle regeneration.

The preview was organised to showcase the newly refurbished centre, which offers a range of multimedia, creative and life skills training, as well as a drop in facility for ICT and internet access, and support for personal development.

The £4 million project, part funded by the Elephant Links SRB Programme, aims to ensure that local people have access to high-quality training to enable them to take advantage of the employment opportunities afforded by the physical regeneration and rapidly expanding cultural and creative industries in Southwark.

"The regeneration of Elephant and Castle will bring huge opportunities to local residents, including new jobs, better homes and shops and better facilities, such as schools and parks" says Cllr Cathy Bowman, deputy leader of Southwark Council. "The launch of Into is a significant milestone for the regeneration because as well as giving local people direct access to training and jobs, it offers a multilingual website and outreach programme."

Into is a collaborative scheme that places interactive media at the heart of community regeneration, learning and enterprise development. The partnership is made up of LWTS, SAVO, Brixton Online, Renaisi and CISCO.
