Sainsbury's has this week exchanged a conditional contract for the sale of its Ten Blackfriars Road site on Stamford Street to the Beetham Organization for £48 million.
Scrapped: the Foster and Partners design for 10 Blackfriars Road, approved in 2002
The Beetham Organization describes itself as of Britain's leading property developers, specialising in "high quality mixed-use city-centre developments".
The news will be a blow to local residents who were expecting a Sainsbury's Central store to open on the site.
