IPC canteen protest

Over 500 South Bank-based IPC staff are protesting at the pending closure of the in-house canteen.

The subsidised canteen known as Print Inn at the Stamford Street tower block is popular among magazine staff who find nearby pubs too crowded and smokey. Many signing the protest petition also claim that prices in sandwich shops around the Oxo Tower area are too expensive.

The NUJ says that its local members fear that the canteen space is about to be rented out to a franchise such as Starbucks .
