Asda offers ‘love in the aisles’ in the Old Kent Road

London SE1 website team

Asda on the Old Kent Road sells twice as many 'meals for one' as any other branch in the UK - so the store is hoping to match up some of its single customers on the eve of St Valentine's Day.

On what is being dubbed 'Loved up London Day', the store is inviting single customers to come shopping dressed to impress on Monday 13 February between 6pm and 10pm.

They will be given a 'looking for love' number and sent around the store with a love basket in hand and their heart on their sleeve!

All they have to do is 'check-out' the local talent. When they spot the partner of their dreams, pop over to the love desk and leave a note with the love doctor.

'Lurve' Doctor store manager Ian McMullen said: "We have to do our bit to help the single people of London find love in the aisles. So if you are a budding Bridget Jones looking for Mr Darcy, or a Ross looking for your Rachel Green get down to our store!"

The store canteen will be transformed into the 'Kissing Cats Cafe' for the night with a live jazz singer and piano player. There will be spot prizes for love up lovers of romantic meals for two, roses, chocolates and Champagne.

Asda opened in the Old Kent Road in December 2004.
