The story tells of a girl who travels across the world in search of family and instead finds life-changing adventure, friends, and the home she was looking for. From the beginning, the viewer is drawn into the story and then asked to use their imagination to create and expand on the sounds and images the actors give them.

The simplicity of the stage and the costumes only demand the actors use more of their skills to create the jungles of the Amazon. The music of the production, sung and played by the actors themselves, is both haunting and poignant, creating an atmosphere conducive to the telling of the story. All the actors, especially the men, give exceptional performances that show off all their talents.

Journey to the River Sea was truly a dazzling experience which both adults and children will enjoy greatly. This is definitely a story worth seeing more than once.

• Unicorn Theatre, Tooley Street, until 25 March
