London SE1 website team

Police are appealing for information regarding a shooting near the Old Kent Road on Thursday evening.

Officers says that at about 7.20pm on Thursday 7 September a 21-year-old man was outside the Klass barber's shop in Madron Street SE17. As he walked away he heard a gun shot. He turned to see two black males with handguns firing at him.

He ran into nearby Old Kent Road, across the dual carriageway and collapsed on the opposite side. He had suffered a number of gunshot wounds to his abdomen.

Madron Street joins the Old Kent Road just north-west of the junction with Dunton Road.

He was taken to a south London hospital where his condition is stable.

Police say that they are keeping an open mind about the motive for the shooting at this stage.

The suspects are both said to have worn hooded tops – one black, and the
other brown. They made off on foot down Madron Street away from Old Kent Road.

Detectives from Trident are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with
information to contact them at the incident room at Putney on 020 8785 8580;
if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
