Election 2001: no change for SE1

Simon Hughes and Kate Hoey have been re-elected as members of parliament for the constituencies covering the SE1 area.

Kate Hoey holds Vauxhall for Labour despite a 4.39% swing to the Liberal Democrats.

In Southwark North and Bermondsey Simon Hughes benefitted from a 8.91% swing from Labour to the Lib Dems.

Turnout was down in both constituencies, standing at 44.84% in Vauxhall and just over 50% in Southwark North and Bermondsey.
