Old Vic theatre to be split into two studio spaces

London SE1 website team

It's been reported this week that the Old Vic is to create two temporary 'studio-style' performance spaces within the existing auditorium, following the example of this year's Loft experiment at the South Bank's National Theatre.

Chairman of the Waterloo theatre's trustees Sir Elton John is set to perform at a fundraising gala to help finance the cost of the project, which is estimated at between £250,000 and £300,000.

The two spaces would seat 600 and 200 people, whereas the current configuration seats just over 1000.
