91-year-old injured in Old Kent Road collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision which left a man in his 90s with serious leg injuries.

Officers from were called at about 1.15pm on Thursday to reports of a 91-year-old man found collapsed in Old Kent Road near the Asda superstore.

The man was taken by ambulance to a south London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers believe the man was in collision with a red moped as he crossed the road opposite the Asda store near the junction with Ossory Road. The moped, travelling north along Old Kent Road, did not stop at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Southwark Police on 020 8285 1574.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue. 

The road was closed for some time after the collision and bus services were diverted.
