Pedestrian in critical condition after Waterloo Road taxi collision

Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian was critically injured in a collision with a taxi in Waterloo Road.

The police and ambulance service were called to Waterloo Road at 4.30am on Saturday to reports of a collision between a London taxi and a pedestrian.

A man in his forties was taken to an east London hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Waterloo Road was closed between The Cut and the BFI IMAX for several hours on Saturday morning.

The taxi driver was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident.

The driver, aged in his thirties, was later released on bail.
