Bankside Restaurant: spurning coupons and offering training

Leigh Hatts

Because January is traditionally a quiet period many restaurants offer discounts to customers collecting special offer vouchers in newspapers.

But once again Bankside Restaurant is by-passing such bureaucracy and simply reducing restaurant food by 50% until Wednesday 14 January.

“We want to start the new year with a full restaurant” says owner Kelvin Macdonald. “Just come to the restaurant and enjoy the usual servings of high quality food then pick up a reduced bill at the end.”

Meanwhile the popular restaurant is looking for a 2004 apprentice chef to train up at and guide down the culinary career path. For the chance to train in the SE1 restaurant, the person does not need any related education or experience. “Just someone aged between 16 and 21 with drive, talent and a passion for cooking” says Kelvin.
