London SE1 website team

Southwark Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault on two cyclists last week.

Sam Khamtonwong has published a video of the incident which took place on St James's Road in Bermondsey, close to the junction with Esmeralda Road and not far from the City of London Academy.

Southwark Police say that they were called at about 10.45pm on Wednesday 27 August to reports that two cyclists had been assaulted.

"It is believed that a car stopped next to a group of cyclists and two suspects got out of the vehicle and punched two of the cyclists in the face and threw a liquid at them before getting back into the vehicle and driving off," said a police spokesman.

"Detectives from Southwark CID are investigating and are making enquiries to contact the registered owner of the vehicle that is believed to have been involved in the incident.

"Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information should contact DC Pilar Marroquin-Grisales in Southwark CID via 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
