Lucky escape as falling tree hits minicab in Southwark Street

A minicab driver and his passengers had a lucky escape when part of a tree fell across the road in high winds on Tuesday morning.

The tree blocked Southwark Street near the junction with Southwark Bridge Road.

The driver of the Addison Lee minicab and his passengers were unhurt.

Tree surgeons were called to chop up the tree so the road could be cleared.
