London SE1 website team

Detectives from the Met's Flying Squad are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a shop in Abbey Street on Thursday.

Police were called at 4.17pm on Thursday to the Tower Head Shop in Abbey Street, Bermondsey.

The shop sells smoking equipment, pipes, bongs, incense and research chemicals.

Two male suspects, said to be armed with a hand gun, had entered the store and taken cash from the till.

The men then left the shop, getting into a gold coloured Honda CRV vehicle driven by a third male suspect. The vehicle made off from the scene at speed in the direction of Jamaica Road.

Detectives say that one suspect wore a woollen hat and the second wore a balaclava. The driver of the vehicle wore no facial coverings.

All three suspects are believed to be white males.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Detectives from the Met's Flying Squad are investigating. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident should contact Flying Squad officers on 020 8345 4226 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
