Moped rider ‘critical’ after Blackfriars Road lorry collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a moped rider was seriously injured in a collision with a refuse truck in Blackfriars Road on Thursday morning.

Police were called to the junction of Blackfriars Road and Union Street at 9am on Thursday to reports of a collision between a moped and a lorry.

The London Air Ambulance landed at Waterloo Millennium Green but the moped rider was taken by road ambulance to an east London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene. No-one has been arrested in connection with the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the serious collision investigation unit at Catford Traffic Garage on 020 8285 1574 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
